Hello everyone, and welcome to the second Nelson County Public Library Technology Challenge! For those returning, I'm glad you're back, and for those who are Newbs, don't listen to anything they tell you. The last one wasn't so bad. :) This time around we plan on covering lots of cool tech stuff, both offline and online, to make you more comfortable and knowledgeable about technology. Challenges will be posted Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, with two catch-up weeks at the end of the program in case you fell behind. Don't worry about keeping up, the point is not to do challenges as I put them up, but to have them completed before November 29th. If you complete the challenge, you will get your choice of one of our super awesome prizes! Now, let's get to the challenge!
Challenge 1:
There's just one challenge today. Since we do have some people who didn't participate in the last challenge (and some people who might have forgotten), this is mainly a review. First, go back here and review the blogging challenge. If you haven't participated before, make a blog! The directions to create a free Blogger blog are right there for you in the challenge. If you participated last time and have forgotten your password, Blogger has a password retrieval page here. Once you have created (or logged in to) your blog, post a comment here to give us the URL. It should look something like http://library-blonde.blogspot.com (this is my blog). That way we can follow along and help one another complete the challenge. Another helpful post to review would be the RSS/Bloglines challenge, here. This will help you keep track of all the challenge blogs in one place, instead of having to visit each individual one. The instructions to add a participant blog to a Bloglines RSS reader are in Challenge 3 from last time. (If you have forgotten your Bloglines password since last time, the password recovery page is here.)
So to recap:
1. Create a blog! Once your blog is ready, comment here to let us know where you are. Also, make a post on your own blog. Are you excited? Nervous? Ready to win that camera? Are you still using any of the challenges from last time? It doesn't have to be long, just practice using the Blogger interface.
2. Collect the participating blogs into your Bloglines account so you can keep track of everyone! Some people may be having the same trouble you are, so help each other out!
